The client on this project was referred to Studio 30 Interiors by a local design and build company. The company was working with the client to provide their services to remove an existing side conservatory and rebuilt a fantastic side extension with a vaulted glazed roof finished with Douglas fir exposed rafters and full-height glazed windows to flood the open plan space with natural light from their beautiful landscaped south facing garden.
The clients, avid travelers, acquired a cherished painting many years ago, which they wished to use as the foundation for their interior design. This painting provided a definitive color palette. Throughout their travels, they developed an appreciation for minimalistic designs and aspired to incorporate this style into their forever home, while still ensuring a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
For the furniture, we selected Pronorm Y-LINE, known for its distinctive handleless profile where the back of the door is milled into an anodized profile and seamlessly finished with the door material, serving as the dividing rail. The kitchen predominantly features MP Ultra matte angora, contrasted subtly yet effectively with the island finished in MP Ultra matte stone grey. The island area also includes a 50mm block wood effect breakfast bar, creating a clear separation between the different zones of the kitchen.
We explored various designs and kitchen flow plans, initially considering the kitchen in the extension as per the architect’s proposals. After multiple design consultations, We recommended relocating the kitchen to optimise the layout by utilising the interior central wall. This new location allowed for a small yet functional island and created three distinct zones, each with a view of the cherished garden. The extension now houses the dining area, accommodating a more formal table for entertaining. Placing the kitchen at the center of the room made it a focal point, practical for daily use and adaptable for hosting gatherings with family and friends.
